Full Game Notes
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Kansas City Mavericks look for their sixth win in the last seven games as the puck drops tonight at 7:05 against Quad City.
Tonight’s game is the final of a brief three-game home stand before the Mavs hit the road for a pair of games in Ohio Friday and Saturday of next week against Cincinnati or Toledo.
Kansas City Mavericks (19-16-0-1) vs. Quad City Mallards (8-20-2-1)
Silverstein Eye Centers Arena
The Mavericks enter tonight’s game having won five of their last six contests and six of their last eight. Kansas City has found a little bit of breathing room in the standings after dispatching the Wings last night, currently up by six points with six more games played than Kalamazoo.
Quad City limps into today’s game with a 0-10-2 mark in the team’s last 12 games played. The last Mallards win came on Dec. 2 against the Mavericks, a 5-3 victory for the Moline team. Kansas City looks to regain the upper hand in the season series, currently tied at two games apiece.
Lucky Number 3
The Mavericks are seeking their third-straight win at home, which would represent a season-high. The team has won back-to-back home games for just the second time this season as KC is looking to rebound from a slow start on home ice.
The Mavericks have been strong against Central Division opponents this year, entering tonight’s game with a record of 8-5-0-0 in divisional play. Quad City has had less success, coming into Silverstein Eye Centers Arena with a 5-16-1-1 record in divisional play.
Matchup To Watch: First Period
Quad City has been slow starters this season, outscored 44-22 in the opening 20 minutes in games on the year. Kansas City enters tonight’s game with a 7-4-0-0 mark when leading after one period of play.
