Kansas City Mavericks (21-16-0-1) at Toledo Walleye (22-10-2-1)
Huntington Center | Toledo, Ohio
Moving On Up
Last night’s win over the Cincinnati Cyclones pushed Kansas City into a tie for third in the Central and kept the Mavericks only four points back of the first-place Toledo Walleye. Kansas City now trails second-place Fort Wayne by a single point in the standings.
Coming In Hot
The Mavericks own an 8-2-0-0 record over their last 10 games and have won seven of their last eight, including four consecutive victories. The Toledo Walleye enter tonight’s game with an impressive 7-3-0-0 record in their last 10 games played.
The Mavericks and Walleye have met only twice since the Mavericks joined the ECHL in the 2014-15 season, Toledo holding a 2-0 record in those games. The Mavericks will meet four times over the next eight days, three of those games coming next weekend at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
The Mavericks look to build on their strong 14-8-0-0 road record when the puck drops tonight in Toledo. The Walleye enter tonight’s game with a strong 13-4-0-0 mark on home ice for the season.
Matt Robertson was named an ECHL All-Star yesterday by the league and he delivered later on in the night with his team-best 10th multi-point effort of the season. Robertson is now tied with Mike McMurtry, whom he is replacing at the All-Star game due to McMurtry’s AHL call-up, for the team lead in goals with 15 on the year. Robertson leads Kansas City in points per game (1.27) and game-winning goals (4) and is second in power play goals with four.
