WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH (April 7, 2017) — The Missouri Mavericks came out strong against the Grizzlies after Wednesday's loss, defeating Utah 3-2 in regulation.

The Mavericks struck early in the first. Dane Fox lit the lamp at just 4:13 into the first period with an assist from Andrew Courtney. Just 1:26 later Eric Scheid found the net for his 11 goal of the season. Jared VanWormer got an assist off Scheid’s goal, putting his first professional point on his resume. Utah did outshoot Missouri 14-7, but Missouri kept the lead 2-0 headed into the second.
The second period saw the tables turn as Utah’s Mathieu Aubin scored just 40 seconds into the period. Utah then tied the game at 2 with a goal from Austen Brassard with 12 seconds left in the second period.
The third period had a slow start, but Matt Robertson was able to get past Utah’s goaltender, Kevin Boyle, for a goal. Andrew Courtney and Conner Bleackley both added apples with Robertson’s goal. For a last ditch effort Utah pulled Boyle for a sixth skater with 1:32 left in regulation, but were unable to even the score.
In his second professional start Zach Nagelvoort had a save percentage of .94 for periods one and two, but had to leave the game before period three. Josh Robinson concluded the game in net turning aside 10 shots.
The Mavericks play their final game of the season against Utah tomorrow at 8 p.m. CT.
