INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - After serving eight years as equipment manager for the Kansas City Mavericks, 2016-17 CCM Hockey ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year Andrew Dvorak is headed east to serve on the equipment staff for the NHL's St. Louis Blues.
"I want to personally thank Andrew and his wife Shannon and son Owen for all that they have done for the Mavericks," said Mavericks general manager Brent Thiessen. "We could not be happier and more proud of him for this opportunity. We wish him all the best. We will miss him for sure."
Dvorak, who has been with the Mavericks since the team's inception in 2009, has worked 1,002 hockey games thus far in his career, most recently with stints in Kansas City and the United Hockey League's Richmond RiverDogs and Southern Professional Hockey League's Richmond Renegades, where he spent a total of six seasons between the Richmond teams. Prior to his time in Richmond, Dvorak worked in Miami with the Miami Manatees of the WHA2 and a year in Jacksonville with the Jacksonville Barracudas of the ACHL.
"It's sad to leave somewhwere after eight years, somewhere that has come to feel like home, family," said Dvorak. "Working for St. Louis is a great opportunity for my family. I look forward to the challenges that that will provide. We're just down the road and we're still part of the Kansas City footprint as far as we're concerned."
Dvorak will work under Head Equipment Manager Joel Farnsworth in St. Louis.
The Mavericks begin their season on the road at Tulsa on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:05 p.m. and will hold their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 28 against Wichita, also at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now.
