INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Kansas City Mavericks Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Tad O’Had announced the team’s captains for the 2020-21 season Thursday afternoon.
“The entire Mavericks Hockey Staff cannot be any more excited to announce our Captains for the 2020-21 season,” Head Coach Tad O’Had said. “When we built this team, we focused on character and skill. These four men possess these qualities. They have all been exemplary models of consistency, character, skill and desire to build the Mavericks hockey culture.”
Forward Rob Bordson has been named the team’s captain for the 2020-21 season.
“Rob embodies what it means to be a leader,” O’Had said. “Through his actions, personality and knowledge, he has been an excellent addition to the Mavs line-up. He has been a great example for our younger players and plays a selfless game. He is very deserving of wearing the C.”
Forwards Brodie Reid and Darik Angeli and defenseman Willie Corrin were named alternate captains for the 2020-21 season.
In 26 games for the Mavericks, Reid has tallied 31 points on 14 goals and 17 assists.
“Brodie’s hockey knowledge, poise and uncanny ability to create offense has been exceptional all season,” O’Had said. “However, what the fans don’t see are his pro habits and the way in which he conducts his craft. Brodie is a high-quality pro and is a great example of what we look for with Maverick players.”
In 18 games for the Mavericks, Angeli has 16 points on four goals and 12 assists.
“Darik has been an incredible addition to the Mavs line-up this season,” O’Had said. “He possesses great character and has been a vocal voice in the room. He carries himself with a high standard and is an excellent teammate. He is always asking what he can do to help the team.”
In 20 games for the Mavericks, Corrin has 12 points on one goal and 11 assists.
“Willie is a great hockey mind and has been absolutely rock steady on the blue line for us,” O’Had said. “He has great presence in the room and works very well with Kohl and I. He is a great example of what a true leader is.”
