INDEPENDENCE, MO – Ethan Straky signs with the Kansas City Mavericks to begin his rookie campaign for the 2026-27 season.
The defenseman from Ormond Beach, Florida joins the Mavericks after completing a four-year collegiate career split between Colorado College and Ohio State.
Throughout his college career, Straky suited up for 140 games, accumulating 28 points while establishing himself as a dependable presence on the blue line. Known for his willingness to sacrifice his body defensively, he blocked more than 125 shots during his collegiate career. During his junior season at Colorado College, Straky was named an assistant captain, showcasing his leadership both on and off the ice.
Prior to his time in college, Straky spent time with the U.S. National Development Team Program, appearing in nearly 100 games while competing in numerous international tournaments against top competition.
Straky joins a Mavericks team looking to build on another successful campaign as Kansas City pursues its fourth consecutive Mountain Division title.
