MAVERICKS NAME BILLY MALONEY DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY OPERATIONS

Billy Maloney serves as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Kansas City Mavericks, playing an integral role in the day-to-day organization, coordination, and execution of the team’s hockey operations.

Working closely with the General Manager, coaching staff, players, front office, ECHL, and organizational affiliates, Billy helps ensure that every aspect of the hockey department is managed professionally, efficiently, and with attention to detail. His responsibilities include coordinating team travel and scheduling, player housing and logistics, training camp preparation, player services, and communication with the ECHL and the organization’s affiliates.

Billy serves as an important connection point between the coaching staff, players, front office, league office, and affiliates, helping provide the communication, structure, and organization necessary for the Mavericks to operate at a championship level.

Billy was an integral part of the Mavericks organization during the 2025–26 season, serving as the team’s Travel Director and playing an important role in the club’s Brabham Cup Championship. His ability to manage the countless details associated with team travel, player logistics, and daily operations made him a valuable member of the organization.

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Billy worked in professional baseball operations with the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, gaining valuable experience in professional sports operations, player services, logistics, and organizational management.

Billy began his career in baseball at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he played baseball for the Mules for three seasons. Following his playing career, he remained at UCM for two additional seasons as a Graduate Assistant and Director of Baseball Operations, gaining hands-on experience in the administrative and operational side of collegiate athletics.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Billy currently resides in Blue Springs with his wife, Austin, and their children.
