KC MAVERICKS SIGN NETMINDER GIBSON HOMER

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Kansas City has signed netminder Gibson Homer for the 2026-27 season.

The 22-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan joins the Mavericks following a strong four-year collegiate career split between the Arizona State Sun Devils and North Dakota Fighting Hawks. Homer becomes the first goaltender signed by Kansas City ahead of the 2026-27 campaign after compiling a 25-13-4 record, a 2.44 goals-against average, and a .914 save percentage during his collegiate career.

While at Arizona State, Homer appeared in 30 games, posting a 16-8-4 record. During his sophomore year, he recorded a .931 save percentage, which was tied for the best in the NCAA, while also allowing the fewest goals-against among qualifying netminders with just 27 goals allowed. He carried that success going into his junior season, once again finishing among the nation’s best in save percentage while earning a nomination for the 2025 Mike Richter Award, presented annually to the NCAA’s top goaltender. 

Homer transferred to North Dakota heading into the 2025-26 season, appearing in 14 games, registering a 2.71 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage. This success helped the Fighting Hawks clinch the number one overall seed heading into the conference playoffs. Standing at 6-foot-6, he became the tallest goaltender to ever suit up for North Dakota.
