INDEPENDENCE, MO – Forward, Zacharie Giroux has signed with the Kansas City Mavericks for the 2026-27 season.
Giroux, 23, arrives to the Mavericks after making his professional debut with the Rapid City Rush during the 2025-26 season. The forward appeared in six games with the Rush while also bringing two years of collegiate hockey experience in Canada (USports) and several seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Giroux made his professional debut on March 6 against the Wheeling Nailers. In just his fourth professional game, Giroux recorded his first career assist and first multi-point game, registering two assists against the Wichita Thunder to help the Rush secure a 3-2 victory.
Prior to playing professional hockey, Giroux played two seasons at the University of Ottawa (USports), appearing in 56 games for the Gee-Gee’s and recording 49 points throughout his collegiate career. Before joining the Gee-Gee’s, Giroux spent the majority of his junior career with the Flint Firebirds of the OHL, while also spending time with the Sudbury Wolves. Giroux totaled 159 points in 193 OHL games before making the move to collegiate hockey.
Mavericks’ fans may recognize the Giroux name, as Zacharie is the younger brother of Damien Giroux, who played for Kansas City during the 2024-25 season. Damien tallied 56 points in 67 games that season, helping lead the Mavericks to their second consecutive Mountain Division Championship and a second straight appearance in the Western Conference Finals.
The puck drops for the 2026-27 season on Oct. 16 and 17, when the Mavericks open the campaign against the Rapid City Rush at Cable Dahmer Arena.
