In season two of their affiliation with the NHL's Calgary Flames and AHL's Stockton Heat, the Mavericks saw an influx of player movement to the next level under third-year Head Coach John-Scott Dickson.

Two former Mavericks also spent time in the NHL this year. Forward Tanner Fritz, who played in 43 games for the Missouri Mavericks in 2015-16, played in eight games for the New York Islanders this season. Former Mavericks goaltender Parker Milner earned a callup to the Washington Capitals as third string goaltender behind Vezina trophy winner Braden Holtby and Phoenix Copely in the first round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Milner was a member of the South Carolina Stingrays this season, the Capitals ECHL affiliate.
