Mavericks Win High Scoring Battle in Allen

ALLEN, TX - The Mavericks end a two game road trip in Allen on Saturday night in a match up with the Americans at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center.  In their first meeting this season at Cable Dahmer Arena back on November 6, the Mavericks beat the Americans by a final of 7-5.

The second meeting between these two Mountain Division rivals would play out very similar to the first meeting.  The Mavericks were the team to jump out to the early lead with goals by Nick Pastujov at 1:48 and Jesse Mychan at 4:06 of the first period.  Allen would get one back with a goal at 6:18 and the Mavericks would lead 2-1 heading to the second period.

In the second, Kansas City added two more goals.  The first came off the tape of Greg Moro at 9:29, the second was a short-handed goal courtesy of Marcus Crawford at 12:48.  The short-handed goal would give the Mavericks a 4-1 advantage midway through the second period.  Allen would then respond back with two of their own and cut the lead to 4-3 in the final minute of the period.

The Mavericks would begin the third period leading 4-3.  Just 2:34 into the final frame of regulation, Loren Ulett would score the eventual game-winning goal of the night and extend the lead to 5-3.  Just two minutes later, Allen would cut the score back to a one goal difference 5-4.  However, Kansas City would score two power play goals, one from Nick Pastujov, and the other from Ryan Harrison to top the Americans by a final of 7-4.
