CADE BORCHARDT NAMED TO ECHL WESTERN CONFERENCE ALL-STAR TEAM
Independence, MO – The Kansas City Mavericks are thrilled to announce that forward Cade Borchardt has been named to the ECHL All-Star Team, representing the Western Conference. This honor caps off a phenomenal December for Borchardt, who delivered one of the most impressive months in franchise history.

“Cade being named to the All-Star Team comes as no surprise,” said Mavericks GM and Head Coach Tad O'Had. “He is an exceptional player who is having an incredible year with the Mavericks. Cade is the complete player—his leadership, offensive abilities, and tenacious defensive play set him apart. He plays the game the right way and represents Kansas City with pride both on and off the ice.”

In just nine games during December, Cade Borchardt tallied 10 goals, 10 assists, and a league-best +19 rating. His outstanding performance earned him ECHL Player of the Week honors for December 2-8, during which he became the first player in Mavericks history to achieve back-to-back hat tricks. This remarkable run included a four-goal game that tied the franchise record for most goals in a single game, as well as a six-point performance that matched the team’s single-game record for points. Borchardt’s exceptional month also earned him the titles of ECHL Plus Performer of the Month, recognizing his league-best plus/minus rating, and ECHL Player of the Month for December.

This season, Borchardt has continued to dominate, registering a league-leading 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 32 games while maintaining a stellar league-leading +28 plus-minus rating. The Mavericks' alternate captain has been a driving force behind the team’s success, providing both offensive firepower and exceptional leadership. His selection to the All-Star roster highlights his significant impact on the Mavericks and the league as a whole.

The ECHL All-Star roster was determined through a vote by coaches, team captains, media relations directors, and broadcasters. While there will not be an All-Star Game this season, the recognition remains a prestigious achievement for Borchardt and the Mavericks organization.

In addition to his ECHL success, Borchardt has earned two call-ups to the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the AHL, further proving his ability to excel at higher levels of competition.

Borchardt’s achievements with the Mavericks continue to build on an impressive ECHL career, during which he has tallied 126 points (50 goals, 76 assists) in 111 regular-season games, with a combined +58 rating. His breakout 2023-24 rookie campaign saw him post 77 points in 71 games, earning him a spot on the ECHL All-Rookie Team and recognition as the league’s top rookie scorer.

As part of the All-Star selection, Borchardt’s jersey will be available through DASH Auctions, the official mobile auction platform of the ECHL. Fans can place bids on his jersey now by clicking on the link HERE. The auction will run until Wednesday, February 5, at 6 PM CST.

The Kansas City Mavericks congratulate Cade Borchardt on this well-deserved recognition for one of the league’s brightest stars.

Borchardt and the rest of the Mavericks head into the second half of the season with momentum and confidence, boasting the league's best road record at 15-5-1 as they prepare to face the Wheeling Nailers. Wheeling is currently tied for the league lead in wins (26) and holds the best winning percentage (.750), setting the stage for a can't-miss showdown between two of the top teams in the ECHL.

Following their road trip, the Mavericks return to Cable Dahmer Arena next week for a highly anticipated three-game series against the Tahoe Knight Monsters, marking Tahoe’s first-ever visit to Kansas City. With Kansas City and Tahoe neck-and-neck in the Mountain Division standings, this series could prove pivotal in the race for first place. Fans won’t want to miss the action, with special theme nights including Faith and Family Night on Wednesday, January 29, and Scout Night on Saturday, February 1. Tickets are available at kcmavericks.com/tickets or by calling 816-252-7825.
